Cunnane
Mary
Cunnane has worked in the publishing industry since 1976, holding senior
positions in both the United States and Australia. In 1999 she founded
The Mary Cunnane Agency. Before this she was non-fiction publisher
at Transworld (now a division of Random House Australia). Authors she
worked with there included Margaret Wertheim and Kim Mahood. Prior to
arriving in Australia she founded a consulting firm, The Cunnane Jordan
Group, whose clients included major European and American publishers and
leading US universities and cultural institutions.
From 1976 to 1996 she was a vice president and senior editor at W. W.
Norton & Company in New York, where she served as a member of the
editorial board and was responsible for acquiring, editing, and publishing
some twenty books a year across a broad range of subjects. Among
the authors with whom she worked were Seamus Heaney, Richard Dawkins,
Steven Pinker, Kate Millett, Kenneth Branagh, Hilary Spurling, Thomas
Keneally, Robin Morgan, Kaz Cooke and J.P. Donleavy.
Mary served on the management committee of the Sydney PEN Centre from
2001-2005, and as vice president from 2003-2005 and is a founding member
of the Australian Literary Agents' Association.
Isobel Wightman
Isobel, who has a doctorate in philosophy, has been a high school teacher of religious studies, history and philosophy in England and has held various other positions, including in the retail book trade, since her return to Australia in 2002. |
